    Date Posted: 10/05/07
Organization: The Friends of Talking Books
    City: Phoenix

    Description:
Briefly, here is a short synopsis of who we are and what we do.
In 1999, a steering committee established the new Friends of Talking Books. The mission of the Arizona Friends of Talking Books is to support and enhance the library through advocacy, outreach and development. AFTB is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation established to provide support to the Arizona State Braille and Talking Book Library. The Friends help raise funds to improve and expand library services for individuals who are blind, visually impaired or physically handicapped and unable to read standard print books. Books and magazines on tape and in braille are provided free to anyone who is eligible due to a short or long-term disability.

The time commitment of a Board Member is to attend our four meetings a year. We currently meet quarterly at the University Club on Central Ave. in Phoenix. There is an annual Whine and Cheese FUNdraiser in September.

I will look forward to hearing from you and appreciate your interest in our service.
