This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly visible and nationally recognized museum. As part of a four-member Marketing Communications team, this person will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with existing community partners and cultivating, planning and facilitating outreach to additional constituents in the broader museum audience and community. Specific tasks include identifying local community outreach event opportunities and representing the museum at public events that draw local visitors; developing grassroots strategies to reach out to groups of influencers in the community; working with volunteers to identify and implement grassroots marketing strategies; coordinating dissemination of brochures, flyers and other communication to partner audiences; developing and implementing ongoing communication through Web 2.0 strategies; building community outreach contacts and public information lists; providing support in establishing tourism services; establishing protocols for cross-promoting all three Heard Museum locations; and expanding and enhancing the museum’s community and government relationships. Some administrative duties required. The position requires some night and weekend work and maintains a flexible schedule. This position requires a minimum of two years of experience in audience development and event planning, especially in a nonprofit setting. A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, nonprofit management or public administration is preferred. This position requires a person who enjoys working at a face pace, has strong communications and organizational skills, is detail-oriented and can work on a variety of projects simultaneously. Experience in writing and distributing e-communications and Web content preferred. The position offers a competitive salary and benefits as well as opportunities for future advancement.
