    Opening reception for Chicano Triumph art exhibit and reading by poet John Olivares Espinoza. John Olivares Espinoza attended the University of California at Riverside where he majored in sociology and creative writing. After graduation, he attended Arizona State University until he earned his MFA in poetry in 2004. His first chapbook, Gardeners of Eden, with the Chicano Chapbook Series, was published in 2000. In 2002, Swan Scythe Press published his second chapbook, Aluminum Times. That same year, he received a Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. He has been a participant in The National Book Foundation Summer Writing Camp and the Macondo Writers' Workshop. Currently, he teaches at The National Hispanic University. His book The Date Fruit Elegies will be published by the Bilingual Press in 2008.
