Add Review/CommentThe Valley's newest performing arts organization takes to the stage for the first time in a colorful celebration of movement that is both expansive and intimate in scope. South Korean choreographer James Jeon opens the program with Inner Moves, a contemporary experimentation of dance which fuses the unique traits of Eastern movement with traditional ballet. Set to an original composition by Moon Seok Chang, it bathes the audiences in an atmosphere of compelling sensuality and evocative emotion. Two middle segments set to piano features three movements of Vicente Nebrada's Our Waltzes and a World-Premiere work by award-winning choreographer Robert Dekkers. Adiemus, a vibrant and athletic work by David Palmer and Yanis Pikieris, is a colorful and celebratory piece set to the ethnic tribal sounds of composer Karl Jenkins. Showcasing the technical ability and artistry of the dancers, it's an affirmation of the expressive reality of contemporary and neo-classical ballet. Taking place in the 600-seat Tempe Center for the Arts Theater, this performance promises to bring a new level of intimacy to the dance concert experience.
