This class is perfect for those studio artists who want to learn how to create the finishing touch of handmade components to complete their jewelry items. In this workshop students will apply a combination of traditional goldsmithing techniques including forging, forming, filing, sawing and piercing to produce samples of several types of clasps, end caps, terminations, bails and findings. Emphasis will be on refining basic hand skills through the use of simple tools, under the guidance of an award-wining goldsmith. Students will learn how to make patterns and prototypes for multiples, plan production sequences, and develop unique design ideas. Workshop will include a written handout, materials, and expert instruction. Helpful Information: A $50 tool and material kit will be provided by the instructor to each student; containing fine silver, brass, copper.
