JAYCEES Rodeo of Rodeos Exhibit Rides into Town... The Phoenix Museum of History and Phoenix Jaycees have teamed up to salute the Phoenix Jaycees Rodeo of Rodeos with a new yearlong exhibit entitled: Rodeo of Rodeos, A Phoenix Tradition with a Heart. The Jaycees were key participants in arranging the new attraction and have contributed large amounts of time and resources to assure its success. The exhibit includes a diverse collection of items, such as rare old photographs, rodeo trophies, vintage western clothing and other western paraphernalia. It is a 'living' exhibit, with new pieces being circulated quarterly. This approach allows the various displays to remain fresh and interesting throughout the entire year. 'We are delighted that the Phoenix Museum of History has selected The Rodeo of Rodeos exhibit for a year long 2004 run in its changing gallery.' says Allan Starr, Jaycees Curator and spokesperson. 'We are honored to host this tribute to the great work the Jaycees have done in our community. Thanks to the support from SRP and the Arizona Community Foundation along with the numerous volunteers -- this exhibit is sure to be a hit,' said Mike Pressendo, the museum's interim executive director. The Phoenix Jaycees Rodeo of Rodeos was one of the top Valley events of the year from 1927, until its final roundup in 1997, attracting local as well as national attention -and even entertainment legends such as Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Marilyn Monroe (featured in the movie 'Bus Stop'). Parking: Covered parking is available in the Heritage & Science Parking garage located next door to the Museum. You can enter the garage either from 5th Street or Monroe Street. Remember to bring your parking ticket into the Museum for validation. There is a $5.00 fee if you loose your ticket. Parking Costs: 1-4 hours: $1.00 (with validation), 4-8 hours: $2.00 (with validation).
