When Chandler High School was completed in 1922, it was considered the best equipped and the finest structure of its kind. Built for $250,000 Chandler High was semi-fireproof with only 2% wood in its construction. The school had grand pillars, a front garden landscape, 30 class and experimental rooms, physics laboratory, domestic science room able to accommodate 28 in cooking, an auditorium with open beams for perfect acoustics able to seat 1000, and most impressively the school had a clock and bell system operated by electricity where a buzzer could ring in each classroom simultaneously or each room could be reached separately.
