Arizona Broadway Theatre (ABT) is offering a new program called 'ABT After Dark,' which kicks off with a production of March of the Falsettos. After Dark shows will cater to a more mature audience. Written in the 1980s by William Finn (author of A New Brain and 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), March of the Falsettos is part of a musical trilogy (In Trousers, March of the Falsettos, and Falsettoland). ABT is performing the second part of the trilogy. The play focuses on Marvin, a Jewish man, and his struggles with his family as he comes out of the closet and divorces his wife. Marvin and his younger lover, Whizzer, struggle with their romance while Marvin's ex-wife Trina struggles to stay sane. Trina finds solace in Marvin's psychiatrist, Mendel, also Jewish. Caught in the crossfire is Marvin and Trina's ten-year-old son, Jason, who is a little too bright for his age not to see what is happening in his family. He fears that he will turn out like his father. Madness ensues!

I thought that the show, was very well put together, the love story between Mendel, and the crazy woman with the wig, was great! Both actors delivered great performances, as well as did a great job directing the production. The young boy did a fantastic job. brought me to tears. Marvan, delivered a very passionate performance. The role of wizar was forgettable, but the actor had a wonderful voice. Highlights in the show were, "Four Jews in a Room Bitching","Breaking Down", and "I Never Wanted to Love You". Collapse

This was an extremely strong production of a tough show! Almost perfect and it was both thoroughly funny and touching. Highly recommended!
