Add Review/CommentPlease join Pueblo Grande Museum Auxiliary and Mr. Banks Leonard as he presents his lecture on the Pueblo Grande Museum Archaeological Excavations. Beginning in 1989, Soil Systems, Inc., a private archaeological consulting firm based in Phoenix, AZ., conducted a variety of excavation projects covering a large portion of the prehistoric Hohokam village of Pueblo Grande. Most of Soil Systems' work was conducted on land located outside the Cultural Park. These projects have resulted in the excavation of almost 2,000 burial features, hundreds of structural features, and thousands of pit features at the site. As a result of this work, in combination with previous projects by other researchers over the years, we can now characterize the structure and history of the prehistoric occupation of Pueblo Grande more comprehensively than ever before. Mr. Leonard has been Project Director since 1996 for Soil Systems, Inc. He received a B.A. in Anthropology with Honors from the University of Arizona in 1981 and an M.A. in Anthropology from UCLA in 1984.
