In a square decade, in a square state, in a square town came a roustabout and his motorcycle and his songs and nothing was ever the same. All Shook Up takes the songs of the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley and mixes them with the story line of Twelfth Night by the King of Plot and Pomp, William Shakespeare and creates a delightful, funny and tuneful musical treat.

Not a real quality piece of theater, but a nice production of this fluff show. FHCT did 2 other musicals this season that had much more merit than this ("Into the Woods" & "Thoughly Modern Millie") entry, but it will make you laugh and maybe even cry. Kudos go to Amy; she always does such a good job. Debra has a great voice and terrific screen presence. George displayed an excellent voice and much more acting skill than this musical needed. Alex good voice , nice dance moves and charisma. His only fault was he was difficult to understand and lost focus sometimes. Victoria had a powerful voice and did a good acting job. The last scene between she and George was my favorite moment of the evening. So real, so heart warming. The direction was spotty and choreography seems the same in every show here. Collapse

The show was just a few pieces away from something really good. The cast was sprinkled with a few pros, like Amy, George, Debra, and Victoria. A few very good community theater actors, like Alex,Sean, Rachel, and Alex. A few very weak community theater actors. The set was okay with some really nice special effects. The dancing was community theater level at best. The band did a fine job( a pity they didn't get some recognition at curtain call). Overall an enjoyable evening. Go to see Amy, George, Debra and Victoria raise the level of this show and you'll be glad you did!!!! Collapse

Most of the leads did way too much mugging & overacting. I know the show is designed to be silly and flat out fun, but, it's no excuse to mug your way through the evening. I found only the actors Victoria (Natalie), George(JIm), Alex B (Dean), Rachel (Lorraine) and Tom (Sheriff) gave any sense that they were real people. They didn't over do it. This show isn't a farce. The set was sparse but worked. Peter Hill always seems to find something creative to do in such a small space. The choreography was very predictable. I would think the theater would benefit by using some new blood to direct and choreograph instead of the same show after show. Give the show a try; see what you think. You'll enjoy the actors I mentioned, the sets, and even some moments from the other actors. Collapse

This is a show that is full of corny fun with some very touching moments. Most of the leads were very talented. I really liked Victoria, Amy,Debra and George. All accomplished actors and singers. Victoria played Natalie the female lead. Her acting skills belie her youth, and a very fine voice. Amy's comic skills were the best in the cast, and again an excellent voice. George has a terrific voice and his portrayal of Natalie's dad was very natural and moving. His last scene with Natalie will bring tears to your eyes, at least it did to mine. Debra did a great job. Sean has a great sense of comic timing but I felt he went for the easy, predictable laugh. I have seen the show before and I would have liked to see more of a nuance to his portrayal. Alex Gonzalez, who played Chad, was way too old for the role. He must be + 20 yrs older than Victoria and their chemistry was absent. Rachel and Alex, the young lovers were fine. Collapse

What a great show! I didn't know what to expect and I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the way that the music jumped in at the right moment (making everyone laugh) and I can't remember when I have laughed so much. The "mixed-up" pairings were great. I thought Victoria and Alex were very good as Natalie and Chad and I really liked Sandy and Tom as the Mayor and Sheriff. Everyone did a really great job and they all looked like they were having lots of fun! Collapse

Elvis's music will never be outdated. It is a small theater and I thought it was too loud. At times, Natalie seemed to shout. Chad was a great lead character with amazing energy and a good voice. Dennis and George were exceptional. Also the ensemble, Amy, Sylvia and Lorraine. The Mayor was hilarious with a good character voice. I wish I could see it again. Thank you to these dedicated people. Collapse

I absolutely loved this show! Although the script is lacking in substance the actors bring it to life on stage in amazing ways. For example, Victoria, playing Natalie was incredible! Her acting dancing and singing ability left me thinking how shes not already on broadway. Alex, playing Chad, was a fantastic singer. He seemed a bit too old for the part but made up for it in comedic timing. The man who played Dennis, Sean, was hysterical in every scene along with Amy, as Miss Sandra, leaving me laughing constantly at the fact that she falls in love with a woman dressed as a guy. I left the theatre loving what they just performed on stage and I'm definitly going back to see it again! Great job to the director Peter Hill for the amazing bus scene and funny gags. A job well done to the entire cast! Collapse

Show had some laughs, but was short on depth. The only true emotion came from Victoria (Natalie), George (Jim), and Debra (Sylvia). They all had some REAL acting moments. ( all with outstanding voices, best in the cast). The other actors were cartoonish, I know the parts are sort of written that way, but, those three could bring a little of both to their roles. I love Fountain Hills CT, but as typical with their shows they seem to lack a "strong bench". I guess it must be tough with the price of gas to get actors to drive out there. The weakness always seems to be in the smaller supporting roles and the ensemble. Collapse
