I consider one of the best parts of the symphony when the “Infernal Dance” is performed. I think this part was highly dissonant, with the purpose of creating that desperation mixed with trouble sensation. I enjoyed it, as I knew that when Ivan found his princess, it would be pure delight. Also, the Firebird’s lullaby was quite enchanting, enough to hypnotize Kaschei and put him to sleep. Undoubtedly, after the “Profound Darkness,” when all the creatures and the illusory palace disappeared, that feeling was transformed in relief. The Firebird’s ending was such a magical moment, as it incorporated most of the instruments in such a superb manner. It was one of the best moments I have ever experienced in a concert of that sort.
