Add Review/CommentCollen, Wellington, and Agnes Nyanhongo, the family most recognized in Shona sculpture, will exhibit their latest works in carved stone. The Shona African art movement is characterized by the vast influence of spirituality, traditional culture, social change, and independence. The Nyanhongo family aspires to embrace the connection between their sculptures and humanity. Collen incorporates inspiration from nature and his home of Zimbabwe into his abstract approach to sculpture. The work of Wellington is inspired by the social and mystical nature of Shona. Meanwhile, Agnes depicts the role of women into her sculptural work. These contemporary sculptures will drive viewers to experience a sense of peace while embarking on a journey of interpretation and understanding. Important Information: An artist reception will be held Thursday, October 22 from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
