See him, feel him, touch him, heal him… a deaf, dumb and blind boy becomes a master pinball 'wizard' and the object of a religious movement in this modern rock opera, adapted from the classic rock music of The Who. New young Valley phenom Sean Rhys Gilyeat and Valley favorites Athena Reiss, Dion Johnson and Beau Heckman bring this 'quiet vibration-land of musical dreams' to life with hits like 'Sensation,' 'It's A Boy,' 'Eyesight to the Blind,' 'The Acid Queen,' and of course, 'Pinball Wizard.' Nearly Naked Theatre in collaboration with Scorpius Dance Theatre brings you the first local production of the Amazing Journey of Tommy… the music that shaped a generation and changed Rock 'n Roll forever! Credits: Music and Lyrics by Pete Townsend. Book by Pete Townsend and Des McAnuff. Directed by Damon Dering. Guest performance by Scorpius Dance Theatre. Photos by Christopher Mascarelli.

Probably the best show this season along with Valhalla and Trainspotting (Stray Cat Theatre). This is an amazing company and the show will leave you breathless (literally)! Amazing concept, beautiful direction, fabulous actors and actresses and the grown up Tommy especially remarkable. I have rarely heard such a tremendous voice from such a young performer. Go see it before it is over or you will regret it! Collapse

A big pat on the back. The young man playing the adult Tommy is one of the best young talents I have seen in Phoenix. What great casting. Go see it....4.5 stars should be 5 but the space takes away 1/2 star. Collapse

What an amazing show in such a small theatre. This cast rocks the house and brings you into a true musical concert experience. There are some very dark moments and sexual ones at that. The 10 yr old Tommy and the lead Tommy are not to be missed. I have seen other work at this theatre and this has to be the best thing they have done since they started the theatre. There are some weak moments like the Acid Queen singer and the opening of Pinball Wizard but the rest of the ensemble makes up for the flatness in those moments. The dancing from Scorpius Dance is so unique it takes this show to a new level. I doubt I will see a show like this again in Phoenix for quite some time if ever. This group for the most part has professional talent and many of them should be on professional stages not community theatre. I am gonna keep my eyes open for the 2 Tommy boys because they will be somebodys someday soon. The sound is a little weird and the band is often loud. GO SEE THIS! Collapse

Easily one of the top musicals of this season. Great concept, strong direction, impressive performances, and amazing design elements. A must-see.

Nearly Naked's production of Tommy was OUTSTANDING. A talented cast on a superbly-designed stage with sharp costumes and a hot band ripped through this rock musical. But for me the most compelling element is the raw exhuberance, focus, and sincerity of the ensemble. That, combined with the intimate venue, made this -- for me -- a more memorable production than the extravagant bway tour. I see a LOT of theatre in Phoenix, and this is IMHO the best musical produced locally in about two years. Damon has raised the bar, not just for N2T, but for all of Phoenix's theatrical scene. The only downside--expectations will be VERY high, now, for N2T's next season!! I, for one, can't wait. If you are even THINKING about going, stop thinking and GO!!! Collapse
