The Devil and the field of dreams... Watch middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd 'sell his soul' for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. The devilishly clever Damn Yankees is a homerun hit with catchy songs like 'Whatever Lola Wants…', 'Shoeless Joe from Hannibal', 'MO' and 'Heart.' The novel and musical were written at a time when the Yankees could not lose the American League pennant, winning year after year in the late 1940's and the 1950's. So, obviously, the only way to beat the Yankees would have to be a supernatural force, such as making a deal with the Devil, to allow another team to win.
