A Valley favorite returns by popular demand! Inspired by Plato's Symposium, Hedwig tells the musical story of 'internationally ignored song stylist' Hedwig Schmidt, the ex-communist victim of love gone bad and a botched sex-change operation, who takes her dazzling glam act on the road to tell her subversive tale, backed by her mythically talented band, The Angry Inch. Ticket Information: An additional $2 discount will be given at the door, for any who bring a current dinner receipt from the Paisley Violin, next door. Credits: Written by John Cameron Mitchell. Directed by Scott Pierce.

Be sure not to miss this rollicking and rocking production of Hedwig. My wife and I took in a performance last weekend and were thoroughly impressed. Even before Miss Hedwig made her appearance, her band the Angry Inch got things started off with just the right amount of kitsch and heart. Performing two classic tracks from the 80's only whetted our appetite for Miss Hedwig's entrance. She of course did not disappoint. Starting off with the rousing 'Tear Me Down', the band and Miss Hedwig did not let up till the end. I must say I found that the lead playing Miss Hedwig brought a ferocity to the role in certain numbers, that made it readily apparent the pain that the character was going through. No one playing Hedwig could succeed without a strong Angry Inch to back her up, and as stated above they were more than up to that task. Led by a Boy George like music director and a wonderful, strong voiced Yitzhak (her guy friday) the band ripped and roared thru every style. So go see it! Collapse

this show by far is the best I have seen out of all the theatre companies in the valley and I am a theatre slut and trust me I go to almost every single show I can. I did not know what to expect but I was amazed at how a little 40 or so seat theatre can contain the energy that Hedwig brings to the room. The set is interesting looks like they dragged a piece of the Berlin wall on stage and what a band and what a voice both James Astemenios and Tracy Payne sing their you know whats off. The video shorts were interesting and well done I realized it coordinated with the art on the wall and the lighting what little there is to work with from what I saw was really good, I guess less is more. Overall this show is great and I overheard the MC of the show Scott Pierce say that it may become a monthly staple well sign me up for a front row seat....this has definitely made me a fan of Hedwig Collapse
