Flashy drag queens meet staunch politicians in this glittering gender bender musical. Set in chic St. Tropez on the French Riviera, this tribute to unconditional love features the powerful song 'I Am What I Am' amidst such witty tunes as 'A Little More Mascara' and 'La Cage aux Folles!'

Coming from a performing background, I have been very particular, and usually very disappointed, in the productions in the valley. Up until recently, the shows that were produced in the valley were always safe and less than Mediocre. In the past year, however, some theatres have been stepping up to the plate and taking on more liberal productions. One of these productions has been ABT's La Cage aux Folles. Although its a seemingly ambitious project for the young company, they have managed to bring not only the glitz and spectacle of the show, but have also managed to bring out the real heart and soul of the production as well. Overall, the production was a lot of fun, almost to where I'd forgotten that I was sitting in the same spot for about 5 hours (dinner included.) The only real critique that I had was the the chemistry between Georges and Albin wasn't the most romantic that it could have. They seemed more like they had been friends for life, rather than lovers. Collapse
