Review/Comment
Insurrection Theater Company presents an evening of risque entertainment that is sure to delight, dismay, and disturb even the most open minded of individuals! The Taboo Festival is a series of one-act plays that will insult your intelligence, offend your principles, and have underage pre-marital sex with your morals...and you'll love it! The Taboo Festival includes 'The Naked People Play' by Stacey Lane, 'I Don't Hate Black People, They Just Scare Me' by Lauren D. Yee, 'Say No More' by Michael Kimball, and features the award winning 'Man on Dog' by Arizona playwright Ry Herman. Bisexuality, polyamory, and pregnancy are only the beginning in the somewhat warped 'Man on Dog.' This controversial play premiered Off -Broadway at the Emerging Artists' Theatre on 42nd Street's Theatre Row, where it was called 'reprehensible' and compared to 'being stabbed in the eye with a fork.' Immediately after the production, the theater was torn down, along with seven other nearby theaters, apparently just in case. No, really. Special entertainment during the festival: Fridays - all girl fetish performance troupe the Pussy Posse; Saturdays - swash-bucklin' comedy improv troupe the Light Rail Pirates; Sundays - mind-blowing psychological illusionist Jacob Spinney. And nightly - go go dancers, drag kings, and more!!'

Who are these people giving this show 5 stars? Were they IN it? Are they the significant others of people in it or maybe their parents? What I saw was probably THE WORST piece of theatre to date.... Expand
Who are these people giving this show 5 stars? Were they IN it? Are they the significant others of people in it or maybe their parents? What I saw was probably THE WORST piece of theatre to date. Taboo? Please. I've seen more taboo things at the local Peter Piper Pizza. And the racism play wasn't eye-opening offensive... it wasn't funny offensive. It was just offensive. Sub-par all the way around. Collapse

Spectacular. I think it's amazing that a local theater would chose to do a show on "taboo" subjects just for the sake of being taboo, but to do it so well is what makes it worth seeing. There is nothing cheesy about the performances, and all of the actors and actresses are very, very good. The one about adultery had a really amazing actress in it who could definitely be on broadway, and the bisexual piece made me cry. The best though was the one about black people. And those naked people were really hot! Go see this show! Collapse
