Get an extra dose of Halloween chills with a classic Henry James ghost story when Desert Stages' Actor's Café presents this spine-tingling tale about a 19th century governess, who is convinced that her two orphaned charges are possessed by evil spirits. Caring for the two rather odd children on an isolated English estate, the governess begins to see apparitions. Are they ghosts or just the product of her fevered imagination? Or, most disturbing of all, what if none of it is real? It's a jump-out-of-your-seat thriller that was turned into a popular 1961 movie, titled The Innocents, starring Deborah Kerr as the governess. Among the best of the psychological horror genre, this two-actor drama features Kristina Rogers (Adele from this Theatre's A Man of No Importance) and Roger Prenger (Andrew Wyke from Sleuth). Credits: Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher from the story by Henry James.
