Miss Saigon is a modern adaptation of Giacomo Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and similarly tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover. The setting of the plot is relocated to 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War, and Madame Butterfly's American Lieutenant and Japanese geisha coupling is replaced by a romance between an American GI and a Vietnamese bar girl. The show's inspiration was reportedly a photograph, inadvertently found by Schonberg in a magazine. The photo showed a Vietnamese mother leaving her child at a departure gate at Tan Son Nhut Air Base to board a plane headed for the United States where her father, an ex-GI, would be in a position to provide a much better life for the child. Schonberg considered this mother's actions for her child to be 'The Ultimate Sacrifice,' an idea central to the plot of Miss Saigon. Miss Saigon is produced by Patricia Tonzi, directed by Peter J. Hill, choreographed by Noel Irick and musically directed by Christie McKibben. Miss Saigon stars Jesse Berger, Mark Burkett, Michelle Chin, Ricky Duarte, Jasmin Feliciano, Nick Feliciano, Brian Elam, Darren Scott Friedman, May Gibbs, Dawn LeSueur, Luo Ma, Ben Medina, Angelie Meehan, Ukiah Odom, Andrea Robertson, Douglas Simmons, Michael Stewart, Ronald Tang, and Kayte Zhang. Important Information: This event is is intended for mature audiences.

Darling summertime fun! FHCT manages to stage this huge musical in their small space with gusto. Acting is great particulary Mr. Applegate (who steals the show) and young Joe.

This was and outstanding show for Fountain Hills! The cast was tremendously talented, especially the young woman cast in the role of Peggy Sawyer. She certainly has the triple threat and has a very bright future. I was hoping to see her in more shows at this theater. The director did a wonderful job as well as playing the part of Julian Marsh. Set design, lighting, choreography and costume design was right on the money. Absolutely fabulous, and congratulations. Collapse

42nd st is an old-fashioned flimsy plot musical that truly requires a large stage to capture all the grandeur. A valiant effort by the community troupe, but it falls short - largely because Kathi Osbourne who plays Dororthy is sleepwalking through the role - no enthusiasm whatsoever. There are some highlight perfromances such as Mallory who plays Peggy Sauders, but others fall short. On the whole another good try, but uneven effort from FHCT Collapse

I loved it. It was to die for. The fairies were so graceful. The characters were so funny. I couldn't have done better casting myself.
