By Robert Caisley. Sometimes a kiss is just a kiss. But sometimes, a kiss is so passionate, so momentous it can turn your whole world upside down. The play centers around two couples who become implicated in each others lives by a single, earth-shattering, fate-changing act of osculation -- a stolen kiss. Kissing is about the choices we make when passion and guilt suddenly enter our lives in equal measure. New Works Festivals, such as the one at Phoenix Theatre, allow professional playwrights an opportunity to develop their work in front of an audience, without elaborate costumes and sets. The plays are presented by professional actors and directors in a casual, staged reading format. The plays selected are new, full-length works that are 'near-ready-for-production.' Audience members in attendance are encouraged to provide feedback and share their insight with the playwrights, directors and actors after each reading.
