In this intimate concert, Arizonan R. Carlos Nakai, the world's premier Native American flutist, will share the stage with fellow 'Wilde Boys' harp guitarist William Eaton and world percussionist William Clipman in a variety of solo, duet and trio combinations. Following intermission, they will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Cliff Sarde, performing works expressing the character of Enter Tribal and Reconnections, their recent Grammy-nominated CD. The 'Wilde Boys' trio of Clipman, Eaton and Nakai is a summit meeting of master musicians. From its inception, this trio has been committed to improvisation - the fine art of crafting music directly from the heart or through composing. The ancient melodies of Nakai's Native American cedar flutes are enveloped in the sophisticated harmonic and chordal timbres of Eaton's uniquely handcrafted, multi-stringed instruments. Both musicians are imbued with a fluid pulse arriving out of Clipman's pan-global percussion. A multi-talented musician and producer, Cliff Sarde fuses contemporary jazz, world beat and electronica into a thoroughly original and powerful new music. He has recorded a number of acclaimed contemporary jazz albums featuring his saxophone work in addition to his collaborations with Nakai and other Canyon Records artists. Photo credit: John Running
