'I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair'! There's Nothin' Like A Dame to get the wishful sailors stationed on a South Pacific Isle singin' and dancin' in this entertaining Rodgers and Hammerstein musical that's set during World War II. Romance blooms in paradise when a feisty Naval nurse named Nellie Forbush falls in love with a French plantation owner with a hidden past and the dashing Marine Lieutenant Joe Cable falls in love with a young native girl. But the dangers of war and prevailing prejudice are storm clouds that threaten a happy ending for these mismatched couples.

This was the first time that I have seen this show or have been to this theater. I went with my mom who saw it on Broadway. We both felt on a whole the show was tremendous. The lead actors had tremendous voices as well as the entire cast. The only thing that I felt was not up to par was the younger brother, as far as his acting or voice and I also agreed that the mother and father needed a better connection. As far as an artistic point of view, we felt that it wasn't missing anything being in a theater in the round. I am hoping to see it again, that's how much I enjoyed it. Collapse

This company keeps getting better and better. The musical numbers were AWESOME. The leads were great with few exceptions. There needs to be more focus on the acting now to get it to be top notch.

The talent in this show from top to bottom was wonderful. The acting was top-notch. This show is an emotional rollercoaster and I was thoroughly entertained. The costumes were impressive and well coordinated. The set was simple, but it worked for the production and the rotating stage was a nice touch. One of the better shows I have seen in the Valley. Amazing ensemble (much like their excellent J & Hyde), Coalhouse & Sarah terrific. They do a wonderfull job with this in-the-round space. I found Evelyn to sing very well and look good but she was so presentational in her performane, sort of cardboard. Younger Brother is out of his depth with the rest of the cast. Mother ( a little old) sang very well but there wasn't very much emotional connection to the character. The company still is missing some important aspects to be considered among the best in the valley ( baby who doesn't get older, costumes not of the period, etc) but it is on the verge. Collapse

This was a big improvement over past adult productions. The theater is sure going in the right direction! Principals did an amazing job for the most part. Ensemble was excellent. Coalhouse was the bright star of the evening. Father, mother and Evelyn were all good singers but didn't have the acting chops. Father seemed awfull young to have a son that age and a wife that old. I agree with the other comments about the singing of younger brother; I was there Friday night and he was sharp, flat and all over the place. Someone in the ensemble must have had a better voice. The costumes for the men just looked thrown together. Collapse

Pretty good production of a difficult show to produce. All of the soloists were excellent, with the exception of younger brother who was sharp and flat. Coalhouse was terrific. Loved all of the historical characters; Emma Goldmine, Houdini, Booker T Washington, Evelyn Nesbitt, Henry Ford, and J P Morgan. Mother and Father had good voices but were the weak point as far as acting went. They didnn't seem to have chemistry, either she was too old or he was too young.Costumes were impressive except for the New Rochelle men, the suits and hats wete not at all period. Collapse

You know your in for a treat when Gerry Cullity's beautiful original Score begins in unison with soaring, and beautiful voice of young Devon(Eagle), and a nicely choreographed ballet sequence. Followed by the many darling little duckies making fun of there Ugly Duckling Sister (Elysha) who gave me chills on her vocal solo's. The Duck's Mother (Jaqui) has a nice voice, and a powerful performance of a mother aching to find her lost child (the Duckling) as she runs away from home, and meets a hilarious dog (Cade) who has a great sense of comedy for being a younger lead cast member. Finally, the Eagle tells the Duckling she is a Swan, and the story of how her Swan Mother left her with the Duckling to take care of her. Then the Duckling becomes a beautiful Swan, and returns home. Gerry Cullity wrote a beautiful book and score with audience particapation, and great cameo roles for children of all ages. This is a must see musical, and bring the whole family! Collapse
