Add Review/CommentFew artists have had longer or more colorful careers than Tanya Tucker. As People Magazine recently wrote, “she was the Taylor Swift of her day.” Country’s original teen sensation landed her first top 10 hit, 1972's "Delta Dawn," at 13. In 1976, at age 15, she had her first greatest hits collection, a Grammy nomination and a Rolling Stone cover with the headline, “I'm Tanya Tucker, I'm 15, You're Gonna Hear From Me." She continued to chart during the next three decades with such hits as "What's Your Mama's Name," "Texas (When I Die)" and "Strong Enough to Bend." Tucker has won a Grammy, two Country Music Association awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards and three CMT awards. She is the youngest woman in pop or country history to have a boxed set of her music available to the public.
Though Tucker has put more than 50 singles in the country chart's Top 40, she quit recording when her father/manager, Beau Tucker, died in 2006. Her newly released project "My Turn" marks the return of one of country music’s most powerful voices. The project covers classics by legendary male artists including Merle Haggard ("Ramblin' Fever"), George Jones ("Walk Through This World With Me"), Hank Williams ("Lovesick Blues") and Buck Owens ("Love's Gonna Live Here," the album's debut single). The CD includes an endorsement from Jones, who says, "There will never be a more distinctive voice in country music than Tanya's."
