Symposium: Sites of Transition

In conjunction with the photography exhibition Sites of Transition: Urbanizing the Mojave Desert in the ASU College of Design, this symposium will offer an opportunity for lively discussion about the market-driven transformations of rich and fragile desert ecosystems. The conference is sponsored by the Phoenix Urban Research Laboratory (PURL). Speakers include Ralph Stern and Nicole Huber, creators of Sites of Transition; Lucy Lippard, prominent art writer; Matthew Coolidge, director of the Center for Land Use Interpretation in Los Angeles; and Mark Klett, photographer and professor of art at ASU.
