Actors Theatre
Actors Theatre was formed in 1986 by a group of Phoenix-based actors, directors and teachers who wished to see their home community become a place where excellent theatre could flourish and where professional theatre artists could live and work. Its original bylaws described a theatre company whose main ambition was to perform plays which would be emotionally stirring, intellectually significant and joyfully entertaining - dealing with subjects relevant to the modern world and peopled with characters whose goals and ambitions were both recognizable and relevant to their audience.
Actors Theatre presents passionate, thought-provoking theatre designed to add to the social dialogue of the community.-

Show was late starting (about 45 minutes late). Problems with sound system. The show started and it seemed like a story of two people who met through a personals column. The language (even for me) seemed to be a chance just to show a lack of vocabulary skills with these two people. Turned out to be about a fish tank and the beginning of the world (do not ask). The audience was in an UPROAR OF LAUGHTER at every comment. HONEST, I NEVER LAUGHED EVEN ONCE. END OF REVIEW. Collapse

Thank you, thank you, thank you for a fantastic evening of wonderful, clean entertainment. I was laughing so hard I almost had to leave to use the restroom-no joke! What a blast! I brought 8 High School students with me who absolutely loved it! The audience consisted of youth to elderly and everyone had a hilariously, enjoyable experience. Don't miss this show-it is definitely a fun, affordable experience. Collapse

This gem from Actors Theatre is an incredibly well written, provocative, disturbing, sad, beautiful, hilarious piece of work. It is brilliantly directed and the show's cast defines great acting. It's the kind of work that warns "it's not for everyone", but it should be. This is exactly the kind of work that needs more visibility and support. It's the kind of work that separates AT from the other pro houses, and it is exactly the kind of work they do best! Collapse

We saw the Friday night 26th performance - Outstanding! Dwayne Hartford gave an amazing performance. It seems that our Arizona audiences rarely show great enthusiasm at the end of most performances -- even terrific ones like this production of Thom Pain. We were very impressed by this well done, thought provoking play. Collapse
