Ballet Arizona

For 21 years, Ballet Arizona has been the Southwest's premier professional dance ensemble. The company and its artistic director, Ib Andersen, remain dedicated to preserving and celebrating classical ballet, and to creating and commissioning new, innovative, and challenging dance works.

Ballet Arizona is held in high regard by local arts and business organizations for its contributions to the quality of life in its community. In 2006 Ballet Arizona was named one of Phoenix Magazine's "Best of the Valley," and recognized as "Arts Organization of the Year" by the Arts and Business Council of Greater Phoenix for exemplifying artistic integrity and fiscal responsibility. In 2007, Governor Janet Napolitano named Ib Andersen Arizona's Artist of the Year.

Ballet Arizona employs 38 professional dancers in offering five fully staged ballet productions, eight free community performances, and five educational matinees each season. In total, more than 60 performances are presented for 90,000 Valley residents; 35,000 of those are served by Ballet Arizona's extensive education and outreach programs, offered through schools, parks, and community centers throughout the region.
