Desert Dance Theatre, Inc.
Desert Dance Theatre is a contemporary dance company based in Tempe, Arizona. The company, founded in 1979, has evolved from a corps of four dancers who performed gratis in the Phoenix area to a company of professional artists who have toured and performed throughout Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Mexico.
Under the artistic direction of Marion Kirk Jones and Lisa R. Chow, the company creates innovative and exciting concerts. The company consists of experienced performers, choreographers, and enthusiastic educators who strive to bring the openness, spontaneity and diversity of dance to the public, whether it be in a live performance or in a classroom workshop.
Desert Dance Theatre blends art, education and entertainment into exciting concert dance that appeals to audiences of all ages. The repertory ranges in mood from comical to dramatic, abstract to lyrical. The original choreography by a variety of artists, combines elements of modern dance, ballet, jazz and mime. Most of the company's work is created collaboratively within the company or with artists of other disciplines (live vocal and/or instrumental music, video, theatre, visual arts, etc).-

Very good event with nice variety. Also liked the question and answer session with the choreographers and dancers that took place after the show. Did have one technical glitch where the dancer's music was competing with static. Was corrected by the next dance. Will be attending the next two nights because I enjoy the variety and the price is cheap considering what you get to experience. Collapse

This play is very inspiring. It teaches young kids, teenagers, and even adults about the impact that Harriet Tubman left on this planet.
