ASU Herberger College of the Arts
Founded in 1964, the College of Fine Arts at Arizona State University welcomed its first class of students in fall of 1965. In 2000, the college was named The Katherine K. Herberger College of Fine Arts, in honor of Valley arts philanthropist Katherine K. Kax Herberger, a champion of the college and its community outreach programs. In 2007, it was renamed the Herberger College of the Arts to reflect the collaborative teaching, creative and scholarly activity of the faculty and students.
Today, Herberger College of the Arts comprises four nationally ranked academic units: School of Music, School of Art, Department of Dance and School of Theatre and Film, plus the Arts, Media and Engineering Program and the ASU Art Museum. Nearly 2,600 students attend the college who showcase their talents through more than 1,000 performing and visual arts events annually.
Accessibility: All buildings in the Herberger College of the Arts are wheelchair accessible. Seating for patrons with a physical disability is available in all facilities and may be requested when purchasing tickets. For patrons with a hearing disability, all Theatre and Lyric Opera Theatre shows have a sign language interpreter at one performance. For more information or to request accommodation, call the Herberger College Box Office at (480) 965-6447.-

This is one of my favorite musicals, so I went to see Urinetown with high hopes and low expectations. I'm happy to say that it was a really great production. I loved the cast, especially Lockstock and Little Sally. The set, lights, and costumes were all really incredible, but the best part of the show by far was the choreography. It was appropriate, hilarious, and most importantly, it was indicative of what was going on in the play. It would be easy to just make everything look nice, but it told the story. I have a strong feeling the the choreographer basically directed the show. There are a few weaknesses in the cast, but there are so many good people, so it can be forgiven. I saw the Saturday night show and I just might see it again. Collapse

The three artists worked well together. The performance of these difficult works was outstanding.

I came to this event expecting dancing. There was hardly any dancing. I wasted my money and feel it was more a play or part of a drama club than anything. The end was the worst.

Involvement in musical accomplishment, going beyond the combined efforts orchestrated instruments or care for mere evidentiary supplement of structure, surfaced in this orchestra of conjured willingness and symphony to play an instrument. Balance among the instruments was not always audible; as they tended to cut each other out through their organized composition: the powerful vehemence of the drums occasionally overpowered the strings and winded instruments. But if this were even a negative to high performance of this musical masterpiece, the rhapsodic, dominating style of the conductor, Timothy Russell, and his musicians could fit with a worthy historical fame, which one would think incredulous if they had not listened to their work in an orchestrated melody just the same as the one I have had the leisure to enjoy. Not sure what I saw the other night but it was amazing looking. And being right there in the action was awesome. This isn't your grandma's theatre so expect a totally different experience I guess.

Visually this was kind of fun but I took my kids to it after seeing the very fun THE LOST ONES and I found HAROUN... just okay. My kids were bored. I thought some of the costume stuff was new and different--loved the fish!--but many of the actors looked like they had no idea what was going on. Collapse

I don't see much at ASU that isn't at Gammage but a friend told me to see this. I found it to be a funny but touching story of war and children. It was both scary and stimulating. A real must-see!
