ASU Gammage
ASU Gammage, located on the Main Campus of Arizona State University in Tempe, was the last completed public project of internationally renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The striking circular design was first developed for a concert hall in Baghdad, Iraq. When that country's economic turmoil precluded the Shaw from constructing the hall in the late 1950s, Wright and his good friend, then ASU president Grady Gammage, adapted the design for an entirely different desert. Gammage opened in September, 1964. Today, Gammage is home to M&I Bank Broadway in Arizona, one of the most successful Broadway series in the country. In addition, Gammage presents Beyond Broadway, a series of artistically unique and culturally diverse performances which range from spoken word to contemporary dance and cutting-edge theater, as well as family shows. All of Gammage's performances resonate beyond the stage and into the community through Gammage's extensive and award-winning education and outreach programs.

Making the case for assisted suicide, you'll wish you'd killed yourself at the start of this 'performance' rather than endure the endless, self-indulgent drivel that is "Under Construction." It's like a self parody of really bad performance art theatre. The only redeeming value is gaining an understanding of mass crowd behavior as an entire audience, for some reason, keeps watching instead of walking out of the auditorium. You'll know what it was like to be present when the king paraded in 'his new clothes.' There's cheap shock value as well - but nothing approaching the level of mild entertainment. If given free tickets, go, but don't forget a sharp razor or strong rope so you can end it all in the first scene. Collapse

We had the pleasure of seeing the STOMP tour in Chicago a couple years back and with the new features previewed in the promo video for this year, it should prove to be even more exceptional! Sit back and plan to be amazed at the rhythm created from the unexpected. A show for all ages and a must for anyone who can or can't carry a beat. Collapse

Enjoyed the content of the show. Although our seats were excellent (12th row)the quality of the sound was poor. Difficult to hear at times.

I am not a fan of musicals, however I went with a friend to see Rent at ASU Gammage on Saturday 3/21/09. Now putting aside the mediocre and boring music, most of the performance was just glorified yelling with extra loud background music. The performances lacked energy and passion, it is a shame because there was definitely some talent in the performers lurking beneath the surface. The set and lighting were a real disappointment. I thought this was the broadway tour, not a highschool musical. The lights at best were either brightly flashed into the audience's eyes, no doubt a welcome change to viewing the sorry set. The worst part of the entire experience was that the production received a 'Standing Ovation'. I was shocked and mortified. Is that a reflection of Arizona as a whole, or is it only a reflection of ASU? Is Tempe so culturally dead that we stand and clap for crap? Collapse

This show is cute. I do not understand all the hype. Yes, the costumes are brilliant, but other than that it is a cute Disney show. There was a technical flaw at the end of the show with sun. One of the panels was broken so when the sun rose it was rather lopsided. The cast was fairly talented for the most part. Overall, I enjoyed the show, but in the end, I just don't understand all the hype Collapse
