Taking my daughter to see this play, I felt - on so many levels - that the play was written specifically for us. Not only did it indirecttly deal with a darker side, but, for the most part, the story was the life of two women who not only shared genetics, but, as a lot of mother/daughters do....one heart. We loved the depth of emotion running throughout the entire play and could really understand why this was a Tony-nominated play. We also came from the Michigan area...knew Lansing well...and afterwards had a great family discussion about segregation, social classes, and how growing up in different environments mold your feelings towards your own past, as well as your future. On so many levels this play was enjoyable, thoughtworthy and well worth our time to see. I hope the Arizona Women's Theatre Company continues to thrive and bring the Valley more plays by women! "Well" is an insightful, hilarious, and poignant mother-daughter encounter, but much more. Lisa Kron (the character) is presenting a theater "treatment" of the nature of wellness and illness until her mother Ann escapes her role as hypochondriac to hijack Lisa's production. In the course of the play, issues of sickness and health, truth and memory, and control of one's life and future (all big stuff!) are incorporated but not resolved in a comedy which had me laughing, crying, and scratching my head. It is clear why this play has been so successful in prior productions. It is a great evening of theater. The cast is uniformly good, and the leads (Zoe Yeoman and Alice Bjoklund) are great. The opportunity to see such high quality, enjoyable, and stimulating theater in the immediacy of the tiny Arizona Women's Theater is something not to be missed. Collapse

I saw this play with my college grandaughter and we were both moved to tears and laughter. You will recognize yourself and your friends in this play which deals with the constant dilemma of mothers who want to or have to work and of the caregivers they hire. I found it very truthful, especially when the nannies were discussing their employers. All the actors were great. The venue is very small and quite uncomfortable..lawn chairs, but it doesn't matter! I hope they extend the play as I want my Hispanic friends to see it and of course there wasn't one Hispanic in the theater Sunday. Collapse
